I need to do a presentation in school on a tech topic.
The topic doesn't really matter but the presentation is actually being marked on soft skills.
The topic doesn't even need to be real. It, for example, could be about robotic arms or cyborgs or some other fantasy.
I have decided to my presentation on the power of permanent magnet motors as mean to replace the earth's dependance on fossil fuels.
I realize in theory this will never work but that's not the point. I am going to sell the presentation as if it does.
I want to create a show and tell element that will sit on a desk in front of me while I present. I want to create a simple overunity motor.
Has anyone ever created one? Anyone have any simple designs? Any one have an ideas?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
The first thing I thought of was a powered train/car that goes around a track (or even just straight, if you are OK with doing a short demo with it as opposed to leaving it running). Just glue a magnet to the front and another one on an arm hanging from the front and "pulling" the car. This is more on the ridiculous side, I suppose. Not sure if you are trying to go more for humor or actually try to convince some of the more gullible people in the class with a believable design.
A less-obvious one could be a motor from an RC car spinning another motor that's acting as a generator and powering both the first motor and an LED light. It's a little harder because you'll need to do the wiring and get creative somehow to hide a battery, but it's more technologically impressive and convincing. Still fairly easy to put together and doesn't require much of a budget or special tools/materials. One idea could be to mount the motor/generator assembly on a wooden plank as a "stand", and hide the battery and wires in the wood. You could drill through the motor casing and feed the wires through on the side that's glued to the wood, so it would be very hard to tell where the trick is without pulling the motor off the wooden plank.
