I used to be really good at removing these things, but haven't had to in a long time..

So today I tried downloaded an emulator for playstation 1 games from a website that seemed pretty trustworthy, it had a really high google rating and good reviews. First link I click on within the site instantly gives me the text enhancing adware crap. I wanted to know, does this get into your registry or steal your information? Or is this merely an adware infectionused for advertising?

Finally got the crap off my computer, just wanted to know if i should change every password i use

firstly, which emulator are u using ? When i was using psx i was using ePSXe , not sure if that is still around? but it was really GG back in 08. I'd suggest taking a look at that because at end of day, ROM's don't change, if ePSXe was able to handle that with no problems or issues with FPS than i would also assume it would be good now.
