Quantum computers are a real possibility but still in very early stages of development so its hard to say how cost effective they will become. I think we will definitely make computers more efficient.
AI is programmed by humans and is limited by that potential. Computers are not subject to death and reproduction like plants and animals are so I dont think computers will ever "evolve" themselves faster than the humans that program them.
I'm not sure how a machine could appreciate music or art. Art and music, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. To appreciate something is to treasure, admire, respect or have some type of abstract value. Appreciation is just a word humans use to describe types of human characteristics. Any computer that appreciates something will just be mimicking its creators or other programmed abilities.
Once computers are sufficiently advanced/powerfu with a fully-realized artificial intelligence, each generation will design the next, with minimal human intervention necessary.
I expect to see that at some point in my lifetime, assuming Intel successfully transitions beyond silicon in the next few years to keep Moore's law going.
