An energy generator that someone is giving away for free, or an energy generator that generates more energy than you put in (ie "free" energy)?

It can be generated, but not created xD Though I'm just abusing the multiple definitions a word can have haha.

Though you cannot say that since we don't know truly if energy can be created. You should say "that we know of" to be more sure.

over the years I've seen a lot of youtube videos featuring "free energy" devices. there is always a discrepancy between the energy production costs to build or start the device and the would be cost of the energy produced. its not free if you dont get back at least what you put in. some of the most promising devices seem to use a series of flywheels and harness the power of inertia and centrifugal force. but due to gravity, friction, and other forces, eventually the wheels stop turning. perpetual motion is essentially impossible to obtain due to the laws of thermodynamics.
