good documentaries about nature / animals / history, south west america? (california / nevada / arizona ...)

southwest usa is pretty much a desert so there isn't a lot of animal activity to document. from a nature standpoint what i find most interesting is the geological features like the sand and rock formations and the type of history they reveal. perhaps you would be interested in reading about the Gadsden Purchase. as far as interesting deserts go as a whole, its not high on the list when compared to other deserts globally so i kind of doubt BBC or Nat Geo would be focused on it. the closest thing you might find is a documentary about certain national parks that highlight some of the most interesting rock features. Google searching is likely going to be the most convenient way to obtain documentaries.
