just wanted to share the following article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-26151062

it starts off with:

Brain scans show a complex string of numbers and letters in mathematical formulae can evoke the same sense of beauty as artistic masterpieces and music from the greatest composers.

and which formula did come out as number one?

Isn't this another example of a discovery that is basic common intuition?

Mathematicians were shown "ugly" and "beautiful" equations: of course "They" got stimulated.

Is the basic premise, When looking at something you are passionate about it stimulates centers of the brain that get stimulated by things you are passionate about?

Like a Programmer looking at eloquent Code, or a Stoner looking at some Purple Cush...

Not gonna need any research for that one :P

Some days I feel that Euler's identity (the equation posted by brmv) is trivial. On other days I find it almost unbelievable.

Those who know me well, know I often privately talk of "how nature conspires" to make this or that true. Some days I feel Euler's identity might be the most profound of these "conspiracies".

a^2+b^2 = c^2
