Looking to buy my brother a nice tent for Christmas, maybe one with two separate rooms?
Anyone know any and/or have any experience with camping?

Not looking to spend more than 200$

not sure you want to go that big. Get two small ones, place them next to each other...The bigger it is the more difficult the assembly

the first thing to fail on a tent usually is the zipper so make sure it has good strong zippers. if he camps in the rain, consider getting one that has a covered porch area in front of the door. its nice for putting on/taking off rain gear and boots. also you might want to get him a big tarp and some nylon cord to go with it. having 2 rooms is not necessary unless you want some form of privacy. chances are he would leave the separating wall open all the time anyways. But if you really want the largest size, 2 rooms might be unavoidable for under $200. Bigger is nice but its also heavier and takes more work to set-up and take-down. being able to walk in and and stand inside the tent is a major plus.

You will not find a good multi-chamber tent for $200.

A great, great tent I would recommend to you would be the Marmot Limelite 2p.

Marmot makes nice stuff but its really rather expensive for what it is. Its not like hes going backpacking in the mountains. for that price I'd rather get a cheaper brand that is a walk-in style tent. if hes just camping at campgrounds, marmot is overkill. Marmot Limelite 2p is a functional budget backpacking tent. its not made for ergonomics or enjoyability. after reading reviews for that tent, it sounds like a headache. its got a tiny door, its short, has annoying grommets at the poll crossings, only has 1 door, and a small vestibule only good for 1 person.

I have the tent. I'm not just reading reviews and telling him what other people think.

I dont care if you have 50 of the tents. I'm telling you what I think. I think its a bad tent unless you need it specifically for what its designed for - backpacking. Even then, there is better tents under $200 (for backpacking).
OP is looking for a "nice tent" maybe with 2 rooms and you recommend an expensive, tiny, and awkward Marmot. I dont think should be recommending specialized backpacking tents to somebody that has little experience with camping and tents; you are sending them in the wrong direction. His brother is likely going to be camping at campgrounds - not on the side of a mountain he had to climb with all his gear on his back.
