Some have questioned the $72 million price tag for a country of 1.2 billion people still dealing with widespread hunger and poverty. But the government defended the Mars mission, and its $1 billion space program in general, by noting its importance in providing high-tech jobs for scientists and engineers and practical applications in solving problems on Earth.

for the love of god thank you India for not caving to the retards.

i love when a government thinks about the future instead of throwing money at problems that money cannot fix.

Some people think they print the money and send it to space.
The only thing that matters is to whom they give the money, import parts or produce them in India and boost the local industry.

Some countries prefer wars to support industry, some fly to space, but in the end the money spent by governments goes back to the people.
Maybe not to those who need it most, but money is not lost.

india is suffering from lack of population control. the only way to fix it with money is to buy guns and bullets for genocides or sterilize half the population.

the second option of course being a long term plan while the first being a short term one.
