just heard about this. has anyone ever heard of this or done any research? is it real or just a theory? or could anyone point me to a few good sources where i can research this myself. i dont want to just google it because im not sure what sources are reliable in this field as i have not researched it at all

cmon now...if you are talking about science and use the phrase "just a theory" you are doing it wrong.

watched some sort of youtube and the phrase was written on a whiteboard?
you want to research it yourself? how many years theoretical physics did you study?
my guess would be a big zero, else you would not come up with this op :o

for a 'vanilla flavour' explanation you might as well consult wiki
but to really understand it takes some preliminary knowledge
do you fully understand schroedinger's cat?

this guy is trying too hard to sound smart.

you want super basic quantum physics?

according to quantum physics ANYTHING is possible. walking through walls, teleportation etc...
it would just take a nearly infinite amount of tries to accomplish. that along with the fact that
according to quantum physics reality is as we perceive it. thats the super basics.

why did you have to prove that you have no clue? :bonk:

i just want reliable sources to use to look into the theory of quantum entanglement. it sounded cool to me and i just want to try and expand my mind a little bit. but if i do get into a conversation about it in the future i dont want to bust out wikipedia nonsense

you always chase down what is sounding cool to you?
whom do you want to get into a conversation about it?
- to talk about it with the average guy/gal on the street, wiki will do fine
- to talk with someone who knows quantum mechanics you better put some substantial work in
- to talk about philosophical implications: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/qt-entangle/

want to know something else that might sound cool to you?
the event horizon for a black hole with the mass of the earth would be less than 1 centimeter or half an inch

postscript:

now there is someone who understands (or at least easily could) what quantum entanglement encompasses

im willing to put in the work im merely looking for reliable sources. i just didnt want to have to spend a lot of energy researching whether a source is reliable or not when i could be reading up on a topic that interests me
