This is sick, we're getting some seriously cool stuff out now!

It's film you can stick over your windows, or whatever. And then control the transparency with your mobile phone :O (or a on/off button)

So you can either have it as just a wall, not see through at all, no sun goes through. or completely transparent as if it wasnt there. so daymn sick. This is gonna end up replacing curtains :o..

to be clear controlling glass surfaces to change from transparent to non-transparent has been a while for a while now.

this application method and control method may be new but the idea is old.

Sorry, i guess i was a little unclear. As they also state, it isnt super new, but this is the first consumer-affordable-DIY clear controlling glass surfaces :D..

considering its almost certainly about as complicated as a remote controller light switch i still don't see the big deal. usually this stuff works based on the electrical signal its given so a remote control signal is well..about the same as your tvs remote control.

to me the only thing i see in this that i can't recall seeing before is the DIY retrofit part. all the wifi/android/iphone stuff is just to make it sound more high tech/new imo.

google smart glass. first time i seen it was shifting liquid crystals to go from clear to opaque on a glass wall.

they didn't show much on it but since its retrofit cover for glass it would be interesting to see how flexible it can be and remain functional.

for example if it just works on flat surfaces it kind of blah but if you could do round objects as well it gives you tons of creative options.

Being flexible would of course add extra opportunities, i still think this is pretty cool though. Either just as curtains, or as some of the uses they show in their video :)

ya if its cost effective it would definitely be worth using. considering they are going the DIY route i hope they realize that without a reasonable price they will be wasting their time.

rich people who paid others to do the work were the target demographic for previous smart glass. diy type of people generally don't have $300 to spend on a window curtain.

i'd use it to freak people out if i had the cash to pull it off. like use it as a floor cover on a glass floor over a cliff. get people to stay on it and then switch it to clear.

people would scream so hard lol.

Would be quite fucking cool xD.. U saw that elevator prank video :P?

I would pay the price for it, if it wasn't 1x1 meters, i need like 30cm*3,5m or something like that.
