I would imagine so.

The several difficulties I have had sleeping are linked to:

Not enough exercise in a day (seems more rare for animals). When I get a good bit of exercise I sleep easier/better.
Too much mental stimulation shortly before sleep. Doesn't seem likely to be a problem for most animals.

I saw a funny youtube video of animals trying to stay awake. You guys should look it up. I would find the link but I'm at work.

I think most people are just simply stressed.. I had major issues falling asleep, but I started lifting and got rid of all the thing causing me worry, and I fall asleep in less then a minute, not even joking.

Taking melatonin helps too.

Animals fall asleep quicker, but I would think most animals wouldn't fall into a deep REM sleep like us.

Mainly because they are always under threat of predators etc. I'm talking out my ass here, but that's my theory.. Proffesor Meatstick

i doubt there is a lot of difference. I mean.. if you compare us to all other animals its hard to gauge something like that because not all animals sleep the same amount. giraffes for example only sleep 1-2 hours a night and elephants only sleep about 3 hours a night. I would theorise that being over stimulated or stressed is enough to keep any animal awake. Or it could be a health problem effecting the animal. I think it takes a certain amount of relaxation to sleep.

There is a lot of evidence that shows most if not all animals do indeed dream and enter a REM sleep state. There has been extensive studies on this and most pet owners have seen their cat or dog playing awhile asleep. Idk if insects dream, i don't think many people have really studies that, since there is a larger interests in mammals

I would actually think most animals can fall into te same sleep cycles we do.
Do they know it, ofc not though.
Animals can dream just like we do

Yeah they likely can. Humans are probably just more stressed

I know my dog dreams. She yelps and shakes when she is having nightmares. I have to wake her up sometimes.... I imagine with how hard her life is she is having a nightmare about being on standby whilst us humans eat at the dinner table.
