Oh my version is different. Replace the cat and toast with John Lennon's body and just play one of those minivan commercials that uses the song Imagine. I figure you can extract a bunch of work from all the spinning he will do.

This clearly wouldn't work, because the butter would melt and the cat would land on its feet. You'd have to regularly stop the generator to replenish toast butter, and the energy you spend on making the butter and putting it on the toast would equal the energy produced by the generator, minus friction losses. Conservation of energy, brah!

Well why not just use double-buttered toast then and forget about the cat. This way, each side will be trying to land on the ground, and the toast ends up spinning around its own axis. You will also get much better balance than with a cat/toast combo, creating less vibration and maintenance for the generator.
