So, I just found out that the new iMacs have neither an optical drive nor a Firewire port?

What?

I understand that some people think CDs/DVDs are done for, but what about us people who work in film/video who need to constantly burn and QC DVDs and Data disks? Aren't we one of Apple's biggest consumers? Sure, I can buy the external USB Superdrive ($79), but having to get additional accessories and cluttering up my desk space in order to carry out basic functions kind of negates the purpose of creating a "slimmer/cleaner" system.

And the fact that I would have to buy a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter ($40) in order for me to access my clients' hard drives and transfer files at a reasonable speed?

What?

:(

Yes, I obviously have other options, but I was just dumbfounded.

Ha! Well, this hipster is an editor and the preferred software at our post-production house is Mac only, so I don't really have a choice. I'd use AVID on a PC if it were up to me. Hipsters love Macs, but you gotta realize, some people make a living off using Mac-based products/software.

Dude, I've used that same avatar before and Tycho's "Dive" album cover was my desktop background for months.

Weird.

Good idea making a sig out of it
