Yeah I mean it is Turing year, but have you done anything to honor the genius that was tormented to death by the conservative law system?

He saved a good deal of lives by encrypting the Enigma for instance.
He is also the inventor of the Turing Machine (orly?)

As you see I'm also badly informed by I would like to see myself trying to figure out the Turing machine ;)

How about you?
Does the Turing year influence you in any way or do you stay untouched?

Yeah Iknow

However does this mean anything to you that 2012 is the Turing year?
I guess it's just veiled by the superficiality of today.

I mean why do people worship Justin Bieber when there's Tesla?

Or better example:
Dennis Ritchie didn't receive honorable mention when he died last year, just in geeky newspapers.
Shortly before that Steve Jobs passed away, the guy who created some great products hands down.

Nervertheless both persons should be remembered.

Define conservative law please. If you can even produce enough proper grammar and spelling to do so. feel free to use spell check. Thanks!

As much as you rip on him for not using spell check, you fail at basic understanding of context. "Conservative law system" means a system of laws that are politically Conservative, as opposed to Liberal.

Turing committed suicide after being forced into chemical castration by a conservative British government after he was outed for being gay.

That explains a lot. Sounds like we are better off without the freak.

Computer scientists were never taught in my school. We learned about biologists and chemists but most computer classes were electives and we focused just on learning how to do stuff on the computer.

So I think a big part of people not respecting Turing as much as they probably should is because a lot of people don't know who he is.

What an ignorant remark. The US Military won WW2 hands down.

Sorry, I'm really trying to improve by learning vocabulary and reading English literature.

For me it's not crucial who won the war but instead how people tried to wear off the German thread.
And Turing made use of his remarkable skills to solve the one decisive - not by force but rather logic.
It is likely that his accomplishement saved the Allies a lot of trouble and first and foremost lives.

However he was not famous at that time simply because his duty was top secret.

If you ask me who decided the war my answer would be Russia.
Germany underrated the vast territory.
After they lost ground in '44 there was no chance for the Germans to turn the tables anymore: they had no oil (and were generally missing ressources), their troops were worn down and arrested in war captivity. At the home front people were suffering because the country supported the frontmen by all costs. It was just a matter of time when they would capitulate.
