If you put water into a bucket that has a lower density, why doesn't the bucket start to float?

Only answer i can find...
Sort of like the if a tree falls and no one is around does it make a sound thing..So i don't know if its a troll answer or not :D fun question tho

This gets pretty complicated very quickly. It all has to do with quantum mechanics. The bucket/water combination exhibits properties from both a wave and a particle. To explain it in lay man's terms: if you observe the bucket, the simple act of observing changes the outcome. If you leave it in a room by itself, in the dark, it will surely float to the top of the room.

where are you talking about it floating to? the quote you have saying "floating to the top of the room" makes it sound like floating through the air, unless you have a tiny ass room. i only ask since you say the bucket has lower density, but dont specify what it is lower than. if the case is that its less dense than air, its just simply physics dealing with buoyancy.

lol

It would just sit there.

If you put the bucket on water though, it would never sink. It would just creepily sit on top of the water.

Until water evaporates and recondenses, if there is enough energy

Assuming bucket doesn't tip over :d

I assumed he meant the bowl was less dense than water.

On second look, it seems like he's maybe talking about the surrounding air?

Regardless, it would still sit there until... Yeah! It tipped over or the water evaporated.

Think about a balloon with a weight sitting on it.

I was talking about your scenario of bucket on water. Something could eventually happen if water evaporated and rained down into bucket.

Like how I'll never know if the light in the refrigerator stays on when I close it.
