can wireless controllers be used on any ps3? or are they directly linked with the ps3 you got them with?

That'd be a terrible design if they were eternally linked with one PS3. Because Sony isn't (completely) brain dead, I can pretty much guarantee you that it'll work with any PS3.

Just have to make sure your controller is off then plug the usb cord that comes with it into the controller then into the ps3 then hit the PS button on remote and it will sync it to the PS3.

If that doesn't work, there is a little hole on the back of the controller. This is a reset button, press it with a needle and do what the quote says.
