I am trying to decide if I want to get my masters in Astronomy or go down the Astro Physics path. I know the 2 are closely interconnected but I have been told that the fields of research and the career path options go in many different directions. I plan to get into UVA after I acquire the few needed credits that I must obtain before hand.
In the end I am still undecided what direction I want to go. I am an amateur Astronomer by hobby but I have a deep love for physics and understanding why this universe and our lives are what they are. I however want to get an undergrad degree in Aerospace engineering just because I think that the career options that would open up would be fun and exciting to me. In the end my goals and ambitions with both Astronomy and Physics are for personal reasons and to satisfy my lust for knowledge and information of our planet and the cosmos.
If anyone has any advanced degrees in any of these fields or are currently working on a degree in these fields, Let me know what you think and what your recommendation would be.
Also if there is another field of study that would touch base on all of the fields listed above and might be more qualifying for me, I am open to suggestions. I am working on building up credits right now and plan to start a 4 year program in fall 2014.
