ok I've seen this three times in the night sky.

first time nobody believed me.
second time me and a friend witnessed it out of the corner of our eye(s)
third time me and 2 friends were near the beach laying on the ground looking at the stars and we all witnessed it.

On all three accounts I was looking at the stars and I noticed a ring around a star shrinking. when it hit the star the ring grew rapidly and the star was dim.
this all happened within a 10 second time period.

Again; I've witnessed this happen 3 times in my life, twice with other witnesses so I know I am not crazy.

I asked if it was a supernova but people say that one that far away wouldn't be visible by the naked eye.

I want an expert opinion, what the heck did i witness?

please don't troll
please don't post negative comments
you an be positive and informative at the same time without being an asshole. ^_^

the ring around a light could be your own vision and then you miss place that light is all...I doubt you can visialy see a ring form around a star light years away lol...but maybe you looking at something else all together

did you read the whole post? there were witnesses... i think its highly improbable that 3 people would see the same ring even if we all had stuff in our eyes

well like I said could be something else if you believe in UFO's you believe there is hundreds of them flying around not just 1-2 ..and when you look at stars could see 1 easy enough and never know it. I suggest you look it up and see if you can find anything that matches what you saw.

I have. i even emailed an astronomer and am awaiting reply.
<_<

if the star was dim afterwards then i think it rules out UFOs

If you saw a light get bright then fade away, was probably a blinking light on an aircraft. Could also have been a satellite, their light is often visible with the naked eye.

you realize that ufo has nothing to do with believing in aliens right? the term applies to any unidentified fly object whether its alien or not.

back on topic.

there is a lot of stuff in our atmosphere that can cause very strange looking things. chances are you will never find out exactly what it is because no one keeps tracks of most of the stuff it could be.
