it works okay. i usually catch more with it than without it for sure but i like fishing for the sake of fishing so i generally just use minnows.

I've really not had much success with the stuff.

All the years I've fished and I'm big into fishing I have only caught a very few things with powerbait, I would use worms over powerbait.

from my experience changing bait up usually works the best. if worms arnt biting try some grass hoppers or grubs or crickets or something.

and sometimes im just a dick throwing a empty hook in there. surprising the dumb fish that will go for it.

my method in canada is to use worm to catch small fish. use the small fish (usually a perch) and hook him onto a big hook to catch the really nice pike, muskie, bass, etc etc

its fucking awesome hawling up a giant largemouth. unlike pike or whatnot, the meat of this fish is actually really fucking good and works really well in asian cuisine

minnows are okay too but theres nothing better than a tiny perch wriggling in pain with 3 huge hooks sticking from his shredded up back or abdomen

it really depends on where your fishing, time of day, season, type of fish your trying to land, etc.... but i in particular don't use use them, i do however use plastic and rubber baits impregnated with salt and have had great results. Also depends on the method your using the power bait.
