http://searchwindowsserver.techtarget.com/tutorial/Active-Directory-Tutorialwindows server is the same as windows.
i believe there are built in tools for managing websites
also managing users in the AD
the thing with AD is:
all workstations are connected to the server via eithernet or wifi.
any user can use their credentials to log on to any computer on the network
-if its the first time logging on to the workstation then this will create a profile for that user and keeps the settings when they log off.
-if its a user returning to a workstation it loads the settings and config.
at least this is the just of it... i dont really remember... and im going on 3 hours sleep
That is a good brief description. Note you could also setup roaming profiles with AD so if people do not have assigned computers their profiles can be stored on a server. This allows them to login on any computer and have their documents folder, desktop, favorites anywhere in the company.
Another main part of using AD and being on a domain is group policies, allowing for centralized management of groups/policies.
