obsidian is an incredibly hard-to-work stone, finish on it nowadays would only be possible to do with laser technology

why is it such an amazing thing? chances are you've lost something in your home you still haven't found so why on a planetary scale do you find that something being lost is interesting?

Time destroys all evidence.

Artifacts continue to progress deeper and deeper into the Earth and will eventually be completely destroyed.

This and many artifacts are not capable of standing the test of time. A wooden spear by example.

Knowing about the birth of civilization and technology is pretty damned fascinating to me.

I do see your point, I just think it's errant to find the past such a nuisance.

the past is important but spending your time looking for something thats been gone for thousands of years with little to no evidence is a waste of time.

i'm fine learning about well documented past civilizations and such but i refuse to care about civilizations that have next to zero documentation.

Uh... what do you think constitutes 'documentation?'

If everyone had your opinion 500 years ago, we wouldn't know shit about the greeks. :(
