So i live in a desert. Basically i'd have to drive about 10 miles to the nearest pond/lake.

Anyways. I walked outside tonight at 11:00 pm, and a frog/toad jumped, and hit me in the leg.

What i'm curious about is how it got there...

I mean i live in the MIDDLE of a HUGE cluster of homes. To even get in to my neighboorhood...you'd need to drive past at least 4 miles of houses side by side.

It's insanely hot here. Dry...VERY dry.

When the frog ran off...it left a trail of water/fluids, so i followed it into the road, and saw about 10 more on the other side.

What is GOING ON? I mean....all we have are walls, and cement around here. Even the plants are all spiny, and dry lol.

Shade? barely. Where are they coming from?!

Do toads just sleep in bushes, and wait for rain or what?

It has not rained for 3 weeks.

They would most likely bury themselves in the sand during the day and would find moisture at that level.

Also, most deserts have a brief period of moisture in the early mornings when the cool nights begin to heat up.

As stated above, I think what you came across was a toad.
