a more temporary method would be linear acceleration, but since there it has a component parallel to the direction of motion, you'd use up more and more energy

but its so inconvenient that a centrifuge is the only practical one

Would you be able to create using magnetic materials, one could create anti-gravity levitation this way, would you be able to reverse the operation somehow to create a source of gravitational pull? Is the levitation a force of gravitational push?

No, magnets create magnetic force. It's not anti-gravity, it merely counters gravity with another force.

Another way would be to put something extremely dense and small in the center of where you want your gravity. It wouldn't be artificial though it'd be real and I doubt it's portability.

i only ask because if youre building a spaceship, it would look primitive (and ugly) to have most your living space in something that has to perpetually spin around. the other aliens would laugh at us. :)
