I've always thought this was true and It seems quantum physicists have found out more proof

I watched another video similar to this one but I can't find it any longer but the same idea was proposed
and without further a due I present you
Dr, Quantum.

Oh yeah :) This sent me on a search a few years ago. A never ending search for truth.

...close your eyes and walk into the nearest wall to see if matter only exists when you're looking at it !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism

Solipsism is the philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist. The term comes from Latin solus (alone) and ipse (self).
Solipsism as an epistemological position holds that knowledge of anything outside one's own mind is unsure

The wall is still there because you are observing it. It doesn't mean "looking at it" per-se but it means that their is an acknowledgement of it's existence at that time. so matter is expected to be there.

what about watter you weren't aware of still being there even though you had no idea about it? if your case was to make sense it would mean anything you aren't aware of simply doesn't exist so once you are affected by something you weren't aware of it no longer is valid.

go get blindfolded, deafened and put out in a location you are not aware of and see if matter is there or not.

...yet a person blind from birth will still walk into an obstacle I put in their path with no expectation it would be there .

or the fact that even microscopic organisms with no brain at all are affected by matter.

anyone who believes this is true is retarded.

I think the implication is more like in a Quantum state there is no specific position or state, it is actually potentialy everywhere is could be (superposition) until it needs to be somewhere to interact with.......

An Observer.....

The term "Observer" in special relativity refers most commonly to an inertial reference frame. In such cases an inertial reference frame may be called an "inertial observer" to avoid ambiguity

This thread is hilarious. I love it when people misinterpret quantum mechanics because they think it justifies some crazy idea they've always had.

You never see this with any other branch of science, either. You never hear someone point to organic chemistry and say "See? Life doesn't exist unless you're looking at it!" or other such silliness. It's all uniquely quantum.
