No time for that chum.

We're just going to have to lose our minds and throw nukes at it.

Turn your key on my mark.

In the cosmic aspect of things, those odds are pretty serious.

"Not necassarily a real threat" as the article actually states, is different from "not a real threat". And don't kid yourself, 450 Feet in diameter can be significant. check out the Tunguska Event, where it seems to be estimated at about only 200 feet across

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunguska_event

The article also goes on to say:

"We have a good opportunity to observe it next year and again in 2015,". "We fully expect that the odds will go way down, most likely to zero, by then."

So, realisticly this will turn out to be more of a discussion of "What if", but is in fact this is a billion times more significant than Nibaru, or Mayan 2012 and is probably the closest thing to an actual early prediction for a possible collision that I can recall. Anyone else remember a better one?

Even if it did hit, it wouldn't be a world killer, a lot of it would still burn up in the atmosphere, and it would most likely hit in an ocean somewhere because most of the Earth's surface area is ocean.

In the small chance that it did hit land at high velocity, it would probably take out an area of 100-500km, and perhaps cause some issues in the surrounding area. Most of the surface area of the Earth's land isn't populated anyways.

If it hit in a major city, it would be a pretty big killer.

But to be honest with you, I think there is something coming long before that which is going to wipe man off the face of the Earth.
