I need a cheap new laptop (under $500)

It must have smooth internet capabilities, be able to play music nicely, and for videos.

Doesn't have to be for gaming, but that would be a plus.

noooooooooooooooooooooooo. unless you're actually going to look at what you're getting. my friend got a single core without cam or mic. if you're just doing work its a good choice, you don't need blink of the eye speed

whatever you do, don't do this. people on the internet usually know more than the minimum wage workers in the store. srs.

could always get a chromebook - it's better than a tablet imo. your gaming options would be rather limited though.

Definitely Acer. I have the pimped out version of the Aspire and it's pretty sick. It was closer to $800 with tax but the standard model is very reasonably priced.
