Curious if anyone hear can give me some advice, I have had conflicting reports from both google and friends of mine. Is there any reason to use you laptop's battery when it could be plugged in? Some have suggested that if the battery if not drained and charged frequently that it will significantly lose any future life, other friends suggest nothing. Anyway, jsp let me know what you know. :)

I think it depends on the type of battery

some years ago, it was good to not charge the laptops, because the capacity was kind of depending on the charge cycles.

todays batteries live shorter if they stay charged the whole time.

First of all you should keep the battery cool. With temperature the time it lasts will decrease. When you take it out take it out at half charge. Not full or empty. That way it will last longer too.

With time keeping your laptop plugged in all the time when it's fully charged will cause the battery life to fail. I got a free used laptop and they had it plugged in quite a bit and now the battery life use to be 6 hours and now only lasts for 45 minutes if that. So i usually just keep it plugged in.

If its gonna be plugged in for long periods of time I recommend pulling the battery out or it will over time loose its life.
