whats the first stuff u install?

i am currently iso but not limited to:
dvd ripping software
word like program
good music player not itunes
winrar type program

but i need these to be free o_o help?

winrar... es best..., VLC player (movie player), Winamp (my preferred music player), Microsoft Word (going to be your best option)

Thats what i would get... even though words not free... its worth it ^_^

winrar, ccleaner, mse, microsoft office, itunes, any and all drivers you need for sound/video/etc, flash player, java, adobe reader + any adobe products you like (photoshop etc), another browser of your choice.

for me, no pc install is complete without mplayer (mplayerhq.hu).

it's a no-nonsense media player without any gui, you control it with the keyboard. this also allows easy mapping to remote controls etc. but my main reason to use it is, it's fast.

also very handy:
filemenu tools. add custom entries to the context menus of certain file types. i can for example download a video from youtube and extract the audio to mp3 with two clicks, straight from windows explorer.

I use:
Daemon Tools Lite with ImgBurn
Microsoft Word 2010 (Just do a little searching), alternatively, you can use Open Office
Media Monkey for music, Media Player Classic-Home Cinema with FFDShow and AC3 Filter
