hey guys ive been having a really annoying and persistent problem.
in my house my roomates set up a switch from their server which i am wired into via 100ft cat6 1.0gbps ethernet cable. my desktop doesnt have a wireless card so this is my only option (their room is down the hall)
basically what happens is when i try to download stuff my internet connection looks like this.
instead of being a constant download it will peak and stop peak and stop etc etc. typically it will eventually just stop and time out. this also happens when i simply browse the web: youtube videos will never finish loading, sometimes i even have to retype a google search 2 or 3 times because the connection will not load until i refresh the tab. ive tried setting a static ip on my computer and my router, but that hasnt helped. my two roommates who have the router in their room are also wired in but they do not have this problem.
does anyone know how i might go about fixing this problem? its gotten to the point where im just going to HAVE to spend a hundred bucks on a wireless card.
