So basicly I found some old chemistry sets.
This is a list out of one of them.
Was wondering if anything fun to do with materials such as this.

Aluminium ammonium sulfate
Aluminium sulfate
Ammonium chloride
Borax
Calcium chloride
Calcium hydroxide
Calcium oxide
Calcium oxychloride
Calcium sulfate
Cobalt chloride
Copper chloride
Copper sulfate
Ferric ammonium sulfate
Ferrous sulfate
Gum arabic
Magnesium ribbon
Magnesium chloride
Magnesium sulfate
Manganese sulfate
Phenolphthalein
Potassium chloride
Potassium permanganate
Potassium sulfate
Powdered charcoal
Powdered iron
Sodium bisulfate
Sodium bisulfite
Sodium carbonate
Sodium ferrocyanide
Sodium silicate
Sodium thiosulfate
Strontium chloride
Sulfur
Tannic acid
Tartaric acid
Zinc sulfate

well...

if you had a nitrate compound, then that plus ammonium chloride is what makes up your average IED

potassium chloride is a health supplement for potassium, lethal only at extremely high doses

the magnesium ribbon will react with any strong acid or pepsi with heat and bubbles and probably with ammonium chloride as well

most acids when mixed with soluble salts can clean the rust off of coins. it'd be interesting to see which ones could. you can create your own soluble salts besides ones you already have by neutralizing acids and bases

tartaric acid is what makes certain candies and fruits sour if i recall correctly

two separated solutions of copper cloride and magnesium sulfate connected by a conductor and a salt bridge could make you a homemade battery

google.

just seems like the kid isnt interested in actually learning about chemistry instead of just wanting to see something fizz or something explode or something freeze or whatever.

Can I ask if you always result in asking a book your questions?

You can always just start mixing randomly and see what happens, but you might end up killing yourself if you do that. So yes, looking up chemical reactions online or in a book would be a very good idea.
