If a person was born with no senses: taste, feeling etc.. and was kept alive, when he became an adult, would he have any thoughts?

Discuss.

Like a feral child (child raised by animals out in the wild) they would probably have "thoughts" but they'd be basic and primal/instinctual. Such a person would never have the ability to acquire intelligence from its family and peers, but the instinctual "I'm Hungry" and "I have to relieve myself" desires would still be present.

i agree w/ this statement because the person has never experienced anything in life. if you've never experienced hearing, feeling, tasting, seeing or even smelling what is there to think about?

e/ oops, i misunderstood what he said. here's my 2 cents. if the person has never had any emotional or physical experiences, then no, the person would be essentially "lost". that's my opinion.

i'd agree with this if the person still had vision and the other 4 senses

i forgot about pain, that's something that's unavoidable and can always be felt. but the things i think about are usually memorable experiences, love and my future goals. so i'm not sure if someone with no feelings can or can't have thoughts. great question, im looking forward to others comments

People have been born who have no sense of touch. They can't feel pain, and it's a very dangerous condition to have. Just think of how bad you could hurt yourself if you accidentally put your hand on a burner accidentally and didn't find out until you could smell it cooking. Or if you bit the tip of your tongue clean off while eating and didn't notice until you went to speak and no longer could form consonants well

I don't believe such a person could be kept alive to adulthood or anywhere near it.

People with CIPA ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congenital_insensitivity_to_pain_with_anhidrosis ) can live relatively normal lives. Whilst most of their nerve endings are insensitive to heat, pain etc, they can still smell, hear, see and feel pressure.
