our outdoor ac just shut off on us yesterday...
the fan that spin inside the ac box stopped spinning yesterday and it's blowing warm air inside the house :(
i don't know how much it would cost to call someone to fix it...but i was thinking of buying the parts and just fix it my self with the help of our neighbor...
does anyone have this problem and how did you guys fix it?

If it's blowing warm air then it's probably the compressor that broke, but I wouldn't even try to fix it if you don't at least have the owner's manual and it tells you exactly where the compressor is, what it looks like, and how to safely remove and replace it.

Get a contract with a local HVAC company, most come with general servicing/cleaning. It will save you boatloads!

Y assume its the compresser it more likely be a mouse chew the thermostat wire or the contact at the out side unit fails first thing to do is see if you have voltage out side in the thermo wires and in the main powersupply.

Honestly a lot of times a bug will crawl into the contact not letting it engage and thus it wont run compressora do fail and they are expensive. But majority of the time its something a little easier

Sometimes the fan is ran by a belt -replace belt
Sometimes the system has a leak and low pressure cut off is cuts the compressor off -recharge system check for leaks
Sometimes compressor just wears out and needs replaced - Obvious

Check for power at the unit
Could be as simple as a breaker or something like that.

You can call an AC guy they would charge 50-100$ to tell you what is wrong with it.

You can spend money on new parts. Put in the labor. Make the problem worse. Call a repairman. Have the qualified person fix the original damage plus the damage you created in trying to fix it yourself...

or just call someone to repair it.

Shit.. same thing happened @ my house 2 weeks ago...

Had the A/C guy come out & it worked all of the sudden.. He cleaned it out & it has worked for a week up until yesterday when the fan stopped spining & it was just hot air.

Im thinking it has to do with the solinoid that engages the fan.... neways ill let you know after the A/C guy comes back
