happened?? if they was at the same level we are now even, i mean we wouldnt be able to deflect a small planet away if it was coming for us. and the impact would probably wipe out all traces of their civilization. for those that dont know they say the moon formed when a mars sized planet hit the earth some like millions or billions of years ago

The best time estimate for the impact was 3.6 billion years ago (going off memory here). The earth was hot as hell and had molten lava oceans at that time if memory servers me correct. Oxygen wasn't even around until 3 billion years ago. I sincerely doubt we had any kind of civilization, or even ANY life forms on this planet at the time of this impact.
