Yah, I know that it requires 11 dimensions for String/Mtheory to be possible and I sure do hope they find evidence sooner or later
The real question is if there are other universes, are they even accessible to us. They might exist and be perfectly inaccessible to us so we could never know about them.
For an example that we can relate to, in 100 billion years, the distant galaxies will have accelerated away from us so much that they'll be moving faster away from us than the speed of light (space-time's expansion is not limited by c) that any light from them will never be able to reach living beings in a distant galaxy. Those beings will only be able to observe the stars in their own local universe. Because of this they will believe that the universe is limited to just their own galaxy. They will come to the wrong conclusion based on all evidence that is possible to gather.
