Here is the deal. I bought a netbook off a guy from work.

Everytime I run the thing it gives me an error after awhile. Which is all right. Then I boot it up again and it takes for ever the bios runs and then it freezes again.
So I took out the RAM just trying to mess around with the damn thing and bam its back to normal for a little bit.

My question is, Is my RAM bad or is my Motherboard going out???

Need opinion if its just going to be a $30 fix to buy new ram or is it a get your money back type deal?

How much did you pay for the netbook?

I would suggest running a linux livecd on it. If it loads successfully you'll know the problem is from the OS (very old system or virus/spyware w/e)
so if it loads, try reinstalling the OS. Also if it is windows, switch to linux, there are some distro's very well adapted to netbooks.
If the livecd does not boot, then this is a hardware/bios configuration problem most likely.

Computers freezing after a while may also be overheating. What netbook is it exactly ?

First off, yes the physical memory may have issues. There used to be applications out there to block-off bad bits. Haven't check it out recently as memory QC has improved quite a bit.

Second, I would clear the browser cache and de-install as many applications as possible. Who knows what's running in the background.

Third, the registry may have conflicts. Yes, crud happen. That's the most likely. So I would follow spock2k11's recommendation, particularly the bit about malware and the bit about re-installing the OS. Ya I know, there are bazillion patches. But this may be a reasonable investment of ur time.
