After some retirement I decided to finally put up the topic again!
Here's the old one: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=40714076&f=90
Just a shortcut of what this topic is meant to be (and ideally was in the past): Discussing/debating, rating, speculating, helping around and about Apple.
I just want to give it a short intro and see what happens so let's start!

------

Latest news I heard is that Apple sold less Notebooks (think it was meant to the during the month april or the 2nd quarter).
Not to sure if this goes hand in hand with the provision with certain and simultaneously necessary hardware from Japan.

Also Apple has been accused of using the generic term "App Store", which should not be legalized after giants like microsoft.
This could lead into the removing of this catchy name.

You've got the App store thing the wrong way around. Apple accused Amazon of stealing the term 'App Store' for their 'Android App Store'. Amazon's defense was that App Store is a generic term and Apple have no right to prosecute them. Apple are the ones accusing and trying to make themselves the only people who can use the term. Everyone else thinks that everyone should be free to use it because it is a generic word describing an application store. Steve Jobs himself has used the term in a generic manner, but Apple are trying for exclusivity.

No, you are just using a different example.
The one I meant occured not long ago and is still to date.
I tried to find an English source, because the one I was gonna refer to is in Germish

So apple attempts to trademark a generic term and people get together to stop it. I don't see the problem here.
Also Apple sucks.

E: After reading the link, it's basically the same thing Timmy posted. Only Microsoft and Nokia joined with Amazon. :/

Same example, different phase. First Amazon made their app store for android. Then Apple sued them, and applied for US trademark. Now pretty much everyone else is trying to block Apple from getting that trademark, because Apple are suing everyone these days/they don't like Apple/they want to set a precedent so Apple doesn't sue them for selling a PSPAD or whatever.

Recently security experts also found ways to get to know allegedly safe personal information from android devices.
You actually think that the Android leak will fasten the recover of Apple from their data scandal?

Reviving this thread by linking on a thing that might have appeared lately for some of us.
You can redirect it to some of Apple's products.
In terms of their iPod Touch I don't think that there are suitable alternatives.
But in my eyes the Galaxy S2 makes its way and has already overtaken the iPhone.
Restrictions, missing innovations and the extortionate prices are taking the cake in my eyes.
This is just short version but what do you think?

Cause now I might not be the only one replying in this thread anymore, people can tell me their first thoughts on the new iPhone 4s.
Especially Siri seems to be interesting to me because in Germany the service is a bit immature.

Give me your overall thoughts please!

Hopefully the company will die with Steve Jobs.
