Im not sure of a combustion engine running on corn syrup, but there are certinally cars that run on vegetable oil. Those are adapted disel engines. Very cool stuff

why aren't we funding this???
a renewable source of energy and as long as it's better than the wimpy power those stupid solar b.s gives then it already sounds good to me

lt depends of your acceleration, of your weight and of the friction it has.

Lets say at 50 mph, weight of 1000 pounds and a acceleration+friction=0. So speed always stays at 50 mph.

If you need lets say 1 liter of gazoline to run 1 mile. How much energy does 1 liter of gazoline contain? Lets say 100 KJ.

So now you know you need 100 kj to run 1 mile.

How much corn syrup contains 100 kj? Lets say 1.5 liters.

These are all random numbers because you will have to find the real numbers to find the real answer.

yeah there are people who do this

unfortunatly, we do not have means to sustain it among the mass of our pouplation. We wouldnt be able to get enough clean vegetable oil in our current system, but i do see this as a staunch alternative

or hydrogen gas i believe is another alternative they were looking at.

Water ( H20 ) as hydrogen and oxygen are two very flammable gazes.

Oxigen is not flammable, nor is it a gaze.

There are plenty of viable alternative fuel sources out there, but the fact is that we can't just suddenly switch to a cheap, renewable resource overnight. So much of our world's economy is tied into petroleum. Something like 50% of all jobs world-wide are directly related to petroleum, so if we just up and switched to, say, a hydrogen cell fuel source(Which is already a viable form of energy), the entire middle east would go bankrupt. We obviously can't have this happen, so we've been gradually converting over the last few decades.
