Do you think it's a real thing? That is, over time, using the headphones the sound will change (significantly, or little, depending on manufacturer and mode)?

Why I'm asking JSP is the real question.

Think of it as a miniature speaker.

Its pretty easy to blow a full sized speaker by having the volume cranked. The same goes for headphones (though many of the newer ones are designed so well that they can't blow)

ive gone through like 5 pairs of ipod headphones because of this... apple makes shity ass headphones imo

It, like most other audiophile things, is complete nonsense. The change that people think they hear is them getting used to the sound of the headphones and placebo effect.
