Some of us actually went to college bro :-P
You don't say? I have a degree in physics, and I'll have my Master's in EE soon. Since that doesn't make me qualified to make medical diagnoses, your degrees in Poli Sci or Strategic Intelligence definitely don't.

medical science isn't all that complicated especially dermatology. hell anyone whos ever really been curious about acne already knows a lot about how skin works and basic conditions such as these.
We can guess what it is, but hell, even a doctor wouldn't say that it's definitely _______ without at least seeing the person's symptoms first-hand, whereas here all we have to go on is "It hurts a lot when I touch it and it is puffy and red." Is the entire ear lobe swollen, or is it localized to just a very specific spot? Did the TC recently get his/her ear pierced? It could just be a simple infection that an antibiotic would clear up, and yet people are jumping to give their untrained opinions, because from what little we have to go on, people are sure that it's a cyst or a pimple.
A real medical professional would probably say "It sounds like it could be ______ but you'll want to have your doctor take a look at it." Hell, giving out medical advice on an online forum is a terrible idea. If someone follows your advice and ends up getting worse because of it, then you're on the hook for it. Even though the anonymity of the internet might protect us from legal ramifications, it can't protect us from the moral and ethical ones.
