can electricity run through gold if you make wires made of gold?

gold is extremely good for conducting electricity. its simply expensive to do so. of all the elements its the best metal to use next to silver

Actually Silver > Copper > Gold for electrical conductivity. Graphene and carbon nanotubes are pretty much the absolute best that we can get for electrical conductivity, but we won't be making macro wires out of graphene or carbon nanotubes any time soon. The longest carbon nanotube that I remember hearing about was about a meter long.

gold makes excellent plugs/sockets/connectors - because it doesn't react with air

copper and silver both react with air, and tarnish - leading to a coating of stuff that doesn't conduct so well

exactly.

brass is used a good bit for connections because it doesnt tarnish either.

Yeah. The main usage that i can recall is the plating of gold they put on visors for space suits.
