I have a 250gb Imation External that works well with both but you have to format it for Windows when you want to use it on Windows and format it for Mac when you wanna use it on Mac. I'm not positive but I think all externals act this way.

my lacie external asked how i wanted to set it up

i had 2 options

1) dedicate it all for windows PC
2) dedicate a portion for PC and portion for Apple ( i think it was 65/35 in favor of PC i dont remember )

i opted for 1 and have yet to hook it up to any of the accessible mac laptops around here.
