Into simple terms. I tried reading into it, and I have no clue what " Einstein first proposed that spacetime is curved" is supposed to mean. Taking AP Physics, but that doesn't help me at all in stuff like this. As well, my teacher was a mechanical engineer, and I doubt he would be able to explain this.
I took intro astronomy course ages ago. Lets see if I remember the basics.
First get rid of everything difficult in your head, abstract things etc, like god, time, religion. Imagine this doesn't exist, only our mind makes this none sense fuck.
All there is are forms, like cubes spheres thats all. Something intangible like time doesnt exist.
Now lets start.
Lets say all there is is space and the space has different forms. Lets say space is just a long football field. If we have a planet on that field, the planets weight or whatever it is pushes that field downwards, so there is a mold in that space field. If we put a little ball far away from the planet where the space is straight it won't move, so nothing happens. If nothing happens then there is no time because time is movement. However something will happen the ball will move towards the planet real real slowly because the planets weight curves the space really strong close to it but further away it still curves the space a little, thats why the little ball is rolling towards the planet or the mold. As the mold becomes steeper the little ball rolls faster and faster. Lets imagine that all time is, is movement. Now when that ball comes close to the mold it will move pretty fast so a lot will happen while another ball far away from the molt at the same "time" moves only very slow so not much change happens. Now imagine that time is the amount of movement and your life is reprensentative of that little ball rolling really fast towards the mold because its close to it. You will have done a million things or movements in lets say "1 minute" while another ball or lets say your friends life is far away from the curvature or the mold so its moving slow and has just done 3 movements. Lets say that both balls you and your friend die at the same time. After that we analyse both your lifes. You did 100billion movements and your friend 1billion. If time is the number of events happening or movement, and you were able to do more movements then didnt time go slower for you? Wherever there is a strong curvature of space which can be created through blackholes for examples or high speeds like the speed of light time goes slow. When you do 100 movements and at the same while a friend does 100 movements then go back and visit him. you appear to go back after 2 seconds because it took you 2 seconds to do those 100movements, him however it took because he is the slow moving ball 60years to complete all these movements.
Someone who knows about this tell me if Im on the right tract or mistaken in smth.
