Doesnt all islands have some sort of life and plants to eat.

some do and some don't. most vegetation on remote islands is palm trees since its very hard for plants to make it to very remote islands. there is a chance of seabirds but most of the food would be coconuts and shellfish.

seabirds dont generally rely on land for anything other than laying eggs/until they can fly off so unless there was a nest there wouldnt be birds. even during nesting season it would be complete luck if he found any on the island .

Yeah thats true

There is so much things he could have done to survive and to get off the island quicker

i think his character was portrayed like it should of been but honestly in that situation you're chances are based on complete luck and basic knowledge of wilderness survival. to leave the island was a 1 in a million shot at surviving. we simply aren't made for survival in open sea.

ya it was the better choice especially after so much time passing without rescue. the most realistic option would of been surviving as long as u can and having a signal fire/using skates to reflect sun at ships/planes if you seen them.
