Heavy duty activity for the days of March 9th - 12th and counting.

Getting very active from a many-year period of dormancy. This program has never shown a "Mega-Flare" status.

As Solar Cycle 24 heats up, we get the feeling it will be a little more than expected.

hmmm... I noticed yesterday the day was shorter than it was today, and tomorrow's Day period is projected to be even longer than today's was. In fact, at this rate, scientists have predicted that there will be as much daylight as their is night on March 20, 2011, and then the daylight hours will continue to grow longer straight up until June 21, 2011.

This is clear evidence that the Sun is experiencing greater solar activity and that we might experience a calamitous solar event on June 21. I'll keep monitoring the situation in this thread.

Solar Cycle 24 has now been underway for a bit, and is expected to peak in 2012.

We underwent a couple of spikes in March & April, with 2 observable X-Class flares (The largest known flare class)

Its still very iffy as far as when the Solar Maximum's peak will be, but it will definitely be between late 2011- early 2013.
