Humans sure can. Animals are known to have complex dreams...perhaps they can lucid dream?

obviously they dream

but can they become aware of the fact they are dreaming? and therefore dream lucidly

its possible when my dog coda sleeps she sometimes moves her legs as if she was running and begins breathing heavy.

i think husalaah brings up the good point of awareness. i personally dont think animals hold the comprehension skills or the awareness necessary to realize they are dreaming

a very good question though. i suppose its one of those that we (at our present state) cannot know for sure

That doesn't really have anything to do with lucid dreaming necessarily. I believe that simply happens when dogs reach the either 1st or 2nd stage of sleep, it is on the same level as muscle twitches in humans.

not sure.
i've had a dog while i was younger and it seemed to never sleep long
unless it slept while i was sleeping and couldn't tell
