like a smaller version of our earth and just sail it anywhere in space

interesting idea

i suppose it would be possible, but to support life like earth does, it need some VERY specific things. Like a strong gravitational revolution around a large enegry source; a.k.a. the sun. without the sun basically everything on earth is dead

idk i suppose u could, but i dont see that happening in the present. maybe the future we'll have a better understnading of thigns to do that

it would take far less energy to find an already existing habitable planet than to build one with the conditions for occupying

Well, the mass of earth is equal to 5.37E41 Joules (via Einstein's mass-energy relationship). So, how much smaller are you thinking? A million times smaller? That's still 5.37E35 Joules. In 2005, the average yearly consumption of energy was 5.67E19 J. That'd take a hell of a long time to save up that amount of energy. Without something like a Dyson Ring or a Dyson Sphere (theoretical devices designed to capture large amounts of the sun's energy), that's simply impossible.

It's hard to discuss the validity of the idea without first defining "smaller version".

if you dont have the technology to get to distant solar systems, you don't have the technology to build a planet
