Dunno the best forum to post this in, so I guess this'll work. I'm wanting to get a hammock for camping/lounging.

I think I'll get an ENO, can't decide whether I want a singlenest or a doublenest. I have broad shoulders, and would like to use the hammock as a seat as well (not to mention I might want to sleep on my side if that's easier in one) so that would point me in the DN direction (weight isn't an issue, especially since it's a negligible difference imo; and they cost around the same).
The only cons I'm seeing for the DN is that it is too much material--you get engulfed in it. So... is the SN fine if I have broad shoulders? Will I be able to lay diagonally w/o falling off, and possibly on my side?

The other question is about the tree straps. I've read ENO's and treehuggers are made from nylon which stretches (even though they seem so very convenient with the loops all the way down the strap to hook the caribiner into). So, I think I'll just get a set of ratchet straps made of polyester and use the non-ratchet end to hook the caribiner from the hammock up to. Maybe I'll even learn how to make knots down the strap to imitate eno/treehugger's design.

Anyone have experience hammock camping?

hammock is nice but its how you place it tho. If it doesnt have a good base...it will suck. Most hammock are good no matter how much you pay for them.

You'll have to try one I guess to feel comfort to it.

i traine hopped across the country a few times, and always had a hennesy hammock with me, the scout model.

takes a while to get used to your back always being curb. cant sleep on your stomach at all either. manuevering in one with a sleeping is annoying as fuck, especially when your wasted lol. it can be a lil claustrophobic. also hammocks are colder. u know the ice under the bridge effect or w/e. yea same thing with hammock. i camped when it was snowing one time and thought the hammock would make me warmer, cuz i was off the ground, nope.

honestly, hammocks really are amazing when u are in jungles or wet hot humid environments with lots of bugs. mine had a mosquito net. so the whole hammock was enclosed. u entered through the bottom of the hammock. the cooling effect is obviously a huge plus here, and bugs cant get in.

atfer having it for over a year, the rainfly finally began to stretch out and water would just sit in the middle and drip down on me instead of falling off the sides.

i take it the double nest is for two people? do it. u never know when u gonna meet some backpacking chicks. and if it doesnt have the mosquito net or anything voer the top, fucking will be very fun and interesting

as for the straps or w/e. dont worry about it. i eventually lost the straps and would just tie the rope around any tree with one fucking knot and it always worked fine. also, without the straps, the hammock is way tighter on the bottom, so more support, vs that extra stretchy sinkingness.

my hammock had some kind of "never tip" design or some shit, u could basically turn the fucking thing upside down and sleep on the mosquito net. falling off was never a problem, yes u can sleep on your side np.
