I want an answer to those who believe the world will end. The Mayan Calendar will end yes but what is the exact thing that will happen that will cause the world to end?

bout all we know so far, is all the planets will be perfectly aligned..

They believe that the North and South pole will switch spots.
Also they believe that the core will stop spinning all of the sudden and then start spinning the other way. (Thus giant tidal waves because the force of the ocean won't stop, they think that is how Noahs ark got to where it was.) Also they have records of sea level being at tops of certain mountains.

The theory is Polar Shift. It has happened at least 14 times that we know of.

But as far as that goes. The earth can pretty much end at any given time. There are like over 10 different ways that I can think of myself.

Human stupidity (world war 3 for example)
Certain supernovas in space release very powerful and harmful gamma rays through space. If it were to collide with our atmosphere it would pretty much vaporize us instantly.
Yellowstone is actually a super volcanoe could go off any day. (maybe not end of world but.. big slow down for the U.S. at least)

My opinions are not 100% correct, this is only from what I understand.

Also (forgot) a lot of prophecies suggest that 2012 will be a year of "GREAT CHANGE" not the end of the world this could be anything. The bible i think says the re awakening of christ, mayans just say great change i think

I think it's pretty cool that the mayan calendar is actually like a 1/10 more accurate then the calendar we currently use.

How did the mayans and egyptians have such a vast knowledge of space and time?
