link for info, you might want to look around the site, watch their vids, and join the movement.

Anyways, this is what the Venus project covers.
The Venus Project presents a bold, new direction for humanity that entails nothing less than the total redesign of our culture. There are many people today who are concerned with the serious problems that face our modern society: unemployment, violent crime, replacement of humans by technology, over-population and a decline in the Earth's ecosystems.

As you will see, The Venus Project is dedicated to confronting all of these problems by actively engaging in the research, development, and application of workable solutions. Through the use of innovative approaches to social awareness, educational incentives, and the consistent application of the best that science and technology can offer directly to the social system, The Venus Project offers a comprehensive plan for social reclamation in which human beings, technology, and nature will be able to coexist in a long-term, sustainable state of dynamic equilibrium.

Now, this could happen in our lifetime, seeing that within the next 140 years we will be entering the astronomical aeon of Aquarius, and before then we will whipe off our greedy aeon of Pisces.
But actually think of it, you get everything you ever need for no cost, because money doesn't exist. You can do anything you want, go wherever you want, learn whatever you want to learn, and eat absolutely ANYTHING.

You watched Zeitgeist didn't you? I think the Venus Project is a good idea, but it requires a tremendous amount of societal change. Societal changes generally don't come about very quickly unless there is some sort of catalyst. The only catalyst I see bringing this about is complete failure of modern economics. Wait, that's happening.

Cheers.

Over a week and no replies to this post? Maybe people need a simple explanation:

What is "The Venus Project"?

1. A society that does not use money or any form of a fiat unit.

2. Through the proper utilization of machines, technology, and resources the basics of life are met for all people within the society. (Food, water, shelter) and most if not all menial jobs are eliminated, therefore working is not necessary to survive.

But wait, money is a motivator, people wouldn't work or create anything!

3. This is a misconception, you must have little faith in human beings. The truth is money is not the best motivator. The best motivator is the feeling of freedom or "free time" if you will. What do people do with their free time? Generally they contribute to something that interests them. Playing music, working on cars, writing thousands of lines of code then GIVING IT AWAY FOR FREE AND CALLING IF FIREFOX etc.

Think of work as "Open source," anything created with work is for everyone, no one has to pay for it.

There is much more to the project, but those are the major points. Check it out if your interested.

If I remember correctly, one of the first things I spotted on the website when I looked ages ago was a Donate/Buy section of the website.

We too are throwing off the shackles of the monetary system!

Also, other than hype that Zeitgeist gave it, has this Venus Project actually done anything? I dare not read the website.

Be aware, I'm starting a movement called the Pluto Project. Feel free to send me your money. I'm uh, improving stuff. And things. Buy my shirts.

this is very interesting. problems that need to be overcome is the general laziness of the average human, especially when they no longer "have" to work, also mankinds desire for power. when i say desire for power i mean the desire to be more powerful than your neighbor.
