I don't see how demonstrating a quantum effect in the macroscopic world changes anything (people have been doing this for decades, and you could argue mother nature does this every day). I mean it is really cool and all but I'm very skeptical about statements in the headline. It is common practice for journalists to embellish stories about science (and just about everything else for that matter).

I don't think this comes close to proving parallel universes

Yah I think it is just a dramatic example that quantum effects can be "scaled up"; that is they can be important for macroscopic systems.

this doesn't prove anything, just confirms something we already know

wait until the LHC data comes in. that could prove the existence of additional dimensions. they look for energy that disappears on tiny increments (a plank length), and will assume it is going to theorized parallel universes.

Any updates about the LHC?

I haven't been keeping up with it.
